The joint operation of the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday rescued nineteen (19) in the ongoing offensive against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists.

The joint operation codenamed 'Operation Shujaa' by the Uganda Peoples' Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have so far recoverd 9500 rounds of ammunition from the ongoing operation against the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) that begun on the 30th November 2021.

The UPDF Chief of Defence Forces Gen Wilson Mbasu Mbadi has called upon the staff officers to frugally use the resources they get in order to ensure effectiveness and accountability. The reduced financial burden of Internet access encourages grassroots innovation, giving rise to a vibrant tech ecosystem. Uganda could potentially witness an influx of local technology ventures revolutionizing industries, creating employment, and attracting investment from both within and outside the country.

The attempt by NAB to boycott government events, functions, and press conferences has proven to be a failure. The dominance of government-related news in the media landscape makes it exceptionally challenging to enforce such a boycott successfully. The partial participation by member organizations undermines the credibility of the association's stance. Moving forward, NAB must adapt its strategies and explore other avenues to safeguard press freedom and ensure balanced coverage, should the government refuse to revise its directives.

“The general outcome of the price cut is expected to help spur digitization, e-services absorption and growth of Internet usage across the country.  We anticipate that the ripple effect of the Government price cut is expected to influence the average market cost and subsequently lower end user tariffs for business and citizens”, Dr. Mugasa said.
