This morning Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi Minister of ICT and National Guidance officiated at MTN 5G roll out  at UCC headquarters Bugolobi. MTN Uganda is the first telecommunications company to roll out 5G as they seek to open doors to more investments, foster innovation, and position Uganda as a digital hub in East Africa and Africa.

The Hon Minister argued that for us in Africa we can't afford to walk but rather to run to be able to catch up with advanced countries in these matters of ICT and also noted that there is need to address issues around digital literacy. "Stakeholders have a duty to explain to the public and make them appreciate what terms like 5G actually mean" Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi stated.

The Honorable Minister also added that the 5G is not just another technological advancement but it holds the power to revolutionize various industries and sectors of Uganda’s economy, ushering in several new possibilities and innovations which will undoubtedly shape Uganda's future for the better.

  The Hon Minister concluded by assuring Ugandans as a medical professional that there is sufficient evidence to show there is no harm associated with 5G or telecom infrastructure
