On behalf of the Ugandan Government, I am pleased to be with you here today to witness a very important occurrence on our soil.
Ladies and gentlemen: Envisage an Africa with a novel and proficient education system; a system that promotes innovation and eschews rhetoric theories.
A system that is well-designed and calculated to avert the continent from the backlash of brain drain and lack of specialization;
One that is devoid of rigid policies that devour the fabric of the gifted and talented in our continent.
In most Western countries, the gifted and talented are renowned and have thus achieved exploits in many fields; suffice to say that most of the world’s greatest inventions are from their soils. Names like Bill Gates (the genius behind computer giant Microsoft) and Albert Einstein (a celebrated physicist) are just but a few household names in the world of innovations. Notably, most of these geniuses do not have great academic achievements, but instead had an effective and efficient path that led them to actualize their talents.
Africa is unfortunately lethargic and continues to wallow in yesterday’s economic, political, and social problems.
With its rigid educational systems, the ability for students to create, invent, and think -out of -the box lay wasted and ultimately killed. Perhaps it is accurate that African cemeteries are the most affluent (where all potential is buried).
Unfamiliar to many in our continent today is the fact that just like the West, Africa too has gifted and talented people albeit unsung heroes and heroines.
It is for this reason that I must say that the launch of this first Anthropo-Biometric Talent Clinic will indeed transition the conventional mindset to pave the way for creativity and self-actualization.
It is indeed regrettable that the familiar adage “everyone is gifted but most people never open the package” is a profound reflection in our society today.
It is my hope that this launch will mark a paradigm shift from the rigid educational systems that eat upon the fabric of the gifted and talented children in our continent. This will in the long run ensure that there is availability of talented and gifted human labor resources that will change the face of Africa.
From past reports on education, if the current education system in the country is not overhauled at the earliest convenience, then the educational sector will face a major crisis.
The current challenges in this sector are almost overwhelming; examination cheating, improper teaching methodologies, and inadequate trained teachers are just some of the few.
The significance of modern educational techniques can hence not be underestimated as they may help to solve most of the problems facing the sector.
It is unfortunate that the current system does not pay much attention to student’s gifts and talents in education but instead focuses on grades , to say the least.
Ladies and gentlemen and my fellow Ugandans. Let us be real now. How many young people have their careers mismatched and end up in the wrong career pursuits with some being frustrated to the extent of dropping out of traditional education systems?
Don’t you know how many youths are jobless because of career mismatch?
How bad is it when a parent spends all the money on the child’s education and he or she ends up doing basic manual jobs just like one who never went to school?
This technology has come at the time and when we need it most. I can imagine, as a parent, knowing the career of my child in advance; professionally and scientifically.
I also imagine that the government of Uganda can know the true careers of learners 20-30 years in advance. Far from enabling good planning, I know how much will be saved in terms of money, time, and effort in training.
It is for this reason that I congratulate the leadership of the World Talent Federation, led by Prof. PLO Lumumba and Prof. Humphrey Oborah, and the visiting top Federation officials from Europe for choosing Kampala, Uganda, to be your starting point in this country.
I would like to confirm the support of The Ugandan Government in all that you have outlined and that your choice of Uganda as one of the donation beneficiaries of this technology is wise, noting that Uganda is the hub for most international activities.
I therefore wish to register my support and that of Ugandans in general, for this technology to be replicated in all cities and villages of Uganda, as we learn more about it and its importance becomes known.
To Ugandans, I would like to let you know one thing: New opportunities keep emerging at our door steps. However, we keep engaging in idle talk or criticisms that cannot yield any meaningful results. Let this great initiative do something for you, and be the first to benefit.
I therefore urge you to take early opportunity while there are still discounts and free offers to benefit massively.
Finally, I would like to echo and leave you with the words of a great French writer, “however gifted an individual is at the outset , if his or her talents cannot be professionally and truly unearthed and developed , the same will be still born”.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU.
