There is, therefore, no need for our citizens, or indeed our visitors, to get into an un-called for panic mode. People intending to visit, are welcome to Uganda, savor our beautiful flora and fauna, and to partake of the tamed hospitality in the Pearl of Africa. We are, indeed, already receiving large numbers of visitors arriving, to participate in the N yege-Nyegefestival, which runs from 9th to 12th November 2023, in Jinja City, 80Km east of Kampala.
Indeed, according to the event organisers, this could be the biggest such event, with over 10,000 bookings already confirmed. We warmly welcome all our visitors, and guarantee that GoU has put in place adequate measures to secure them, and indeed, our own citizens who will participate in the festival. This includes a 24-hours’ police presence, surveillance drones, thorough technology-aided checks, prohibition of dangerous objects and narcotics within, and around the venue of the festival.
GoU is similarly maintaining close security surveillance in major urban centres, highways, tourism hot-spots, places of worship, night-clubs, shopping centres, markets and other places that attract crowds. We, therefore, urge our visitors and citizens to remain calm, and go about with theirendeavors, normally.Meantime, sincesecurityisparticipatoryinnature, GoU encourages Ugandans, and our visitors to be vigilant, to look-out for and report any unusual or suspicious persons and/or objects, for swift response.
