The attempt by NAB to boycott government events, functions, and press conferences has proven to be a failure. The dominance of government-related news in the media landscape makes it exceptionally challenging to enforce such a boycott successfully. The partial participation by member organizations undermines the credibility of the association's stance. Moving forward, NAB must adapt its strategies and explore other avenues to safeguard press freedom and ensure balanced coverage, should the government refuse to revise its directives.

In the latest episode of political shenanigans, the National Association of Bullies (NAB) has valiantly risen to the occasion yet again, this time to ensure that the Underwhelming Broadcasting Corporation (UBC) stays firmly planted in its feeble position in the media spaces. Why embrace progress and change when you can bask in the warm glow of stagnancy, right?

Contrary to Kalinaki's opinion, increased government support can actually contribute to UBC's independence and accountability. Adequate financial backing would alleviate UBC's debt burden, enabling the broadcaster to operate more autonomously and foster professional integrity. Transparent mechanisms for oversight and monitoring, strengthened by collaboration with NAB, can ensure that UBC remains accountable to the public's interests.

To truly understand the motives behind the NAB boycott, one must consider the broader context of Uganda's media environment. The introduction of the President's directive mandating all MDA advertisements to go through UBC has caused apprehension among major media house owners, who may perceive this move as a threat to their influence and financial gains.
